My wife always said I was certifiable

Things have been a little quiet on the blog front in the last couple of weeks, the reason for this is that I’ve been spending my spare time studying for the SQL Server 2008 MCTS – Database Implementation and Maintenance exam.

Today was the big day, I’d never taken a Microsoft exam before so didn’t really know what to expect and was really nervous as I hadn’t sat an academic exam in more than a decade.

A lot of people ask how to go about studying, what books to buy or websites to use for resources. For my part my employers bought a copy of The Real MCTS SQL Server 2008 Exam 70-432 Database Implementation and Maintenance it’s a nice snappy title which you can’t fail to remember :)
I used this in conjuction with Books Online, which was made a lot easier by a blog post by Buck Woody as he details which sections of BOL he used to study and pass for his exam.

I’d like to thank Christian Bolton @ChristianBolton for answering loads of my questions day and night and most of all my wife for letting me off some of the nappy changing so I could study.

Just realised I haven’t mentioned the actual result – I passed (940)
